Division of Psychiatry

UCMG child-adolescent psychiatrists are specialists in psychiatric and psychosomatic disorders in pediatric patients. They diagnose and assist in the management of primary psychiatric and neuropsychiatric disorders of behavior, mood, or thought; when psychiatric symptoms occur due to an underlying medical condition or head trauma; and in management of pain and pain syndromes. The child-adolescent psychiatrists are available to provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation, psychotherapy, and psychopharmacotherapy for a variety of psychiatric disorders, including depression and other mood disorders, anxiety disorders, stress and trauma related disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, attention deficit disorders, eating disorders, psychotic disorders, psychosomatic and somatoform disorders in children and adolescents. Psychiatric evaluation, ongoing psychiatric treatment, and collaboration and consultation with other psychotherapsists or pediatricians is offered.

The Psychiatric Consultation-Liaison Service addresses special emotional and behavioral problems of hospitalized or chronically ill children and adolescents, including psychopharmacotherapy for these patients. Children and adolescents with these problems are seen for consultation as outpatients or while hospitalized at CHLA. The Sports Psychiatric Program addresses special problems of elite young athletes and performers and their families.

UCMG physicians in the Divison of Psychiatry also see patients in offices in Encino.
