The Division of Infectious Diseases offers both clinical and consultation services to meet the challenges posed by the dramatically changing nature and magnitude of pediatric infectious diseases. These changes require specialized and innovative approaches to the care of both common infections and more serious infectious diseases with high morbitity and mortality. Each year, UCMG physicians within the division serve more than 1,000 hospitalized patients with complex bacterial, fungal and viral infections including those infections in transplant and immunocompromised patients. In addition, the Division consults on more than 400 cases annually around the state of California.
